The Street runs along the old Pilgrims Way, it starts at the top of Vicarage road just before the junction with Pilgrims' Road and The Street and ends at the junction of the Street and Browndens Road, here the road continues as The Pilgrims' Way until it becomes a bridle path at Ladds Farm.

THE STREET

Historical Perspective

Opposite Hills Place a group of white chalk cottages 'Pilgrims Cottages' were replaced by  three prefabs called Montgomery Cottages in 1945.  Then in about 2007 three new red brick houses were built on the by now vacant site.

Shops included Wraights General Stores which was situated at No 5 Jupps Cottages, a Butchers  shop in what is now 5 Turks Hall Place and a Sweet shop on the left  further up the street going South towards Chapel Lane.
